"And He said, I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.  And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me." Matthew 18:3-5

Foster Children

Welcome from the Executive Director, Kelley Gunter

Kelly Gunter, Executive DirectorWelcome to the Isaiah's Place website, we are very excited to share with you our passion for providing quality treatment foster care in the Miami Valley.  Opening Isaiah's Place had been a personal goal of mine for several years.  Having worked in the foster care arena since the mid 1990's, I have seen and experienced several things that made me hope to one day have my own agency.

With the opening of Isaiah's Place in July of 2003, that dream became a reality.  The core of who I am is based on my relationship with God and the beliefs that I hold.  It has been the overriding desire in my career to work in an atmosphere where those beliefs and values did not have to be pushed or set aside to succeed.  As a result, Isaiah's Place is a Christian-based agency and the foundation of our vision is expressed in the scripture of Isaiah, "a little child shall lead them."

Children are our priority at Isaiah's Place.  We believe, however, that for a child to be cared for well, the family the child is placed with must be a healthy, happy family.  In my years of working with foster parents, the major complaint that I heard over and over was that the agency provided them with little, if any support.  The parents didn't feel appreciated, respected or valued.  Our goal at Isaiah's Place is to provide the best in support and services to our parents.

With that in mind, our training is completed in the foster home, in person, by our certified trainers.  Our trainers come to you, and work around your schedule, so that you don't have to worry about attending training or getting all of your hours in.  Our trainers will ensure that your training requirements are met.  Also, all of our foster parents have 24-hour access to their immediate caseworker in the event of an after hour emergency.  At Isaiah's Place, we cherish the opportunity to provide support, socialization and recreation for our foster homes and have ongoing events for foster parents and their children to attend. These include a summer pool party, Christmas skate party, annual Foster Parent Appreciation Banquet and fall festival.

Finally, I would like to add that we have a tremendous Board of Directors who are intricately involved in the shaping and running of Isaiah's Place.  Our board members share the vision of Isaiah's Place and are actively involved in all aspects of the agency.  I hope that you search the website and find any information you need.

My prayer is that God will lead each of you to happiness in whatever path you choose.

Be Blessed,

Kelley Gunter, Executive Director
