Our Services
Forensic Interviews
The purpose of the forensic Interviewing component is to provide an opportunity for alleged victims to disclose about maltreatment in a neutral, fact-finding interaction with a specially trained interviewer while utilizing a multi-disciplinary team approach. Forensic interviewers are trained to gather information in a developmentally-appropriate, legally- sound, non-leading, and non-suggestible manner. Our goal is to minimize trauma and the number of times a victim must tell their story.
Victim Advocacy
The services of a victim advocate are essential in achieving the overall goals of reduction in trauma and secondary victimization for children. We provide personal advocacy for your child and family to help begin the healing process
Advocacy services consist of:
-
Welcoming and orienting the child and family to the Harcum House
-
Providing crisis intervention during the initial visit
-
Coordination with the family and investigative partners
-
Providing access to evidence-based services such as counseling to address the impacts of trauma
-
Enhancing the cooperation of the family in the court process
-
Facilitating linkages with other types of basic needs including housing, food, job services, clothing, and others
Mental Health Services
Our multidisciplinary team response includes access to trauma assessment and specialized trauma focused mental health services for child victims. Specialized mental health services are available as part of the team response either at Isaiah's Place or through coordination with other treatment providers in the community.

Children who have experienced abuse may be referred to therapy with our child therapist. Without intervention, many child victims of abuse will suffer ongoing or long term consequences that could impact them throughout their lives. Therapy is a unique opportunity for a child to meet with a trained professional who can help him or her process the trauma they experienced during abuse. Our process uses evidence-based, trauma-informed treatment that has been proven to be effective in coping with trauma.

Medical Services
Specialized pediatric medical evaluation and treatment services are available to all CAC clients through our linkage agreement with Dayton Children's Hospital and are coordinated with the multidisciplinary team.

Located at Dayton Children’s Hospital, as well as offsite locations, the Division of Child Advocacy provides medical examinations and follow-up care for cases of suspected or alleged child maltreatment. Children benefit from the expertise of specialized child abuse medical providers and social workers within a personalized, child centered environment.

Children being evaluated by the Division of Child Advocacy will be seen by a Dayton Children’s provider who specializes and provides expert care to suspected child and adolescent victims of abuse.
